Union Pacific Main Line

Evanston is a railroad town, offering businesses the direct rail access they need to move materials and products throughout the country. The railroad played an important role in the development of the community. The Union Pacific Railroad Complex in Evanston was built to serve the Union Pacific Railroad main line running through Evanston. The first train arrived in December 1868 and the complex's brick buildings were built in 1912. The Union Pacific Railroad Complex features a roundhouse with 27 stalls built during the 1912 improvement phase, replacing an earlier roundhouse built in 1871. The complex was the chief service point on the UP main line between Ogden, Utah and Green River Wyoming. Five brick structures remain: the roundhouse, machine shop, gas building, storehouse and the mineral building. Five frame buildings include an office, a woodworking shop and a company store.

Evanston and Uinta County have three airports within close proximity including one County Airport within the Uinta County border and one municipal airport, Kemmerer Municipal Airport, located one hour North. The Evanston-Uinta County Airport boasts a 7,300 foot runway, offers competitive fuel prices, on-site rental cars and plenty of ramp and heated hangar space. Fort Bridger Airport is just 44 minutes away and offers 24 hour fuel, a pilot’s lounge, restrooms, aircraft maintenance, courtesy transportation and hangar leasing.

Evanston also offers access to Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). SLC is only 1 hour and 15 minutes away, and can accommodate most international travel for employees and business owners.  SLC is the 23rd busiest airport in North America and the 85th busiest in the world.
